The Importance of Retinols in Skin Care
Every woman over 30 should be using a Retinol treatment!
I believe every woman should be using a Retinol containing product, or at least some form of a chemical exfoliant.
The purpose of retinoids are to speed up your exfoliation process, similar to a chemical peel, and increase the production of collagen (the fiber that gives skin structure).
How It Works:
As a chemical exfoliant, retinol thins the outer-most layer of skin (the dead skin that clogs your pores causing blackheads and acne) while at the same time stimulating collagen within the dermal layer. It works in the dermal layer, which is where you want all your products to penetrate. Because of the penetrative nature of this topical medication, one cannot buy these products containing retinols over the counter.
What Are the Benefits of Retinol Cream?
Retinol, a form of vitamin A, is one of many ingredients found in various topical skin care products. It's widely used because it has many applications and uses for the general improvement of your skin's health.
- Clears Acne.
- Diminishes Wrinkles
- Lightens Discolorations
- Fewer Side Effects
- Shrinks Pores
Some of my favorite Retinol products are: Image Total Retinol A Crème, Image MD Reconstructive Repair Crème, and Image MD Reconstructive Retinol Booster (just add a few drops to your crème or serum).
If you find your skin is too sensitive for Retinols, Glycolic is a great alternative. Adding a product that encourages exfoliation will produce optimal results long-term.
Some alternatives to Retinols are: The Total Repair Crème, as well as the Total Anti Aging Serum
